Announcement speech corpus
Description: Contains announcement speeches for all presidential primary candidates from 1984-2016 in .txt file format. Several candidates did not give traditional announcement speeches. These include Hillary Clinton-2016 (announced via a short video), Carly Fiorina-2016 (announced via a short video), Hillary Clinton-2008 (announced via a short video), Al Sharpton-2004 (no announcement event), and Orrin Hatch-2000 (announced via a press release). Additionally, no announcement speech for Elizabeth Dole-2000 could be retrieved although media records indicate she did give an announcement speech. For these candidates a secondary speech is included but researchers should be aware that they may not be comparable to the other texts.
